Tauranga Astronomical Society

Please note that visitors are always welcome to view through the telescopes at any time (weather permitting) throughout the program while videos are being watched.

The meeting starts at 7:30pm. We have a 10 minute break at around 8:30pm before the second half starts at 8:40pm. The main meeting will finish at around 9:15pm. Telescope viewing may continue after 9:30pm weather permitting and depending on the visibility of suitable objects.

Meetings are held in the Otumoetai Sports and Recreation Club building, Fergusson Park, end of Tilby Drive, Matua, Tauranga on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm. Presentations are given on current astronomical topics. All those interested in astronomy in the Bay of Plenty district are invited to attend.

Entry for non-members is $5 per adult. Children are free. 12 Month membership is $30.00 for individuals, $40.00 for families, or $10.00 for tertiary students. Please note that there is NO EFTPOS available, so cash only please.

Two Night Astrophotography Course

Tauranga Astronomical Society is pleased to present a 2 night astrophotography course with expert astrophotographer – Amit Kamble.
Bring your telescope if you have one, and camera, or just your camera – it will be a fun couple of days observing our incredible night sky…
WHEN: Night Sky Photography – Friday 21 August
Image Processing – Saturday 22 August
Time: 7.30pm to late, both nights.
Where: Tauranga Astronomical Society, Fergusson Park,Tilby Drive, Matua, Tauranga.
Cost: $10 for TAS Members, $40 for non-members.
