Please note that visitors are always welcome to view through the telescopes at any time (weather permitting) throughout the program while videos are being watched.

The meeting starts at 7:30pm. We have a 10 minute break at around 8:30pm before the second half starts at 8:40pm. The main meeting will finish at around 9:15pm. Telescope viewing may continue after 9:30pm weather permitting and depending on the visibility of suitable objects.

Meetings are held in the Otumoetai Sports and Recreation Club building, Fergusson Park, end of Tilby Drive, Matua, Tauranga on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm. Presentations are given on current astronomical topics. All those interested in astronomy in the Bay of Plenty district are invited to attend.

Entry for non-members is $5 per adult. Children are free. 12 Month membership is $30.00 for individuals, $40.00 for families, or $10.00 for tertiary students. Please note that there is NO EFTPOS available, so cash only please.

Free Staying Safe Driver Refresher Workshops

Refresh your knowledge and understanding on:
– Give way rules
– Intersection rules & use of roundabouts
– Road markings & signs
– Searching & scanning skills
– Car care & maintenance
– Prescription medication & driving
Workshops are theory based. No test or exam.
Participants find a workshop particularly useful prior to renewing their drivers’ licence and regaining confidence after a break from driving.

Time: 9.15am – 1.30pm
Cost: Free for aged 70 plus. Tea & coffee will be provided but please bring your lunch.

Ballet Class for Adults

one-hour ballet class at the Dance Education Centre, specifically created for adults. A class for those who love ballet, those who have the interest and didn’t get the opportunity earlier, and those who have children learning and want to know more.

Good music, fun and great for mind, body and soul. Ballet shoes required and comfortable dance or exercise wear.
