As part of the 2018 Tauranga Moana Matariki calendar of events the Incubator Creative Hub is proud to be presenting a workshop celebrating  Maori artists and their art forms. These series of workshops are subsidised by Creative NZ’s Creative Communities scheme.

Introduction to Bone Carving Two Hour Workshop
Introduction and appreciation for the art of Māori Bone Craving. Learn about cultural origins of whakairo and common bone carving designs. Experience creating your own carving from template designs.

Tutor: Hei-Tuakiri
When: Wednesday 27th June  10am – 12noon
Cost: $20 All materials supplied.
Max 6 people

Introduction to Bone Carving Two Hour Demonstration & Workshop

Learn about cultural origins of whakairo and common bone carving designs. Finish off one of the supplied templates to take your own carving home.

Whare Thompson Wood Carving Demonstration

No cost, no registration

Venue: The Incubator @ The Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga; during the Historic Village Lions Market over the period of Matariki.
